Prosecutors drop kidnapping and domestic violence charges against Nick Gordon – report

Prosecutors in Florida have reportedly dropped a kidnapping and domestic violence case against Bobbi Kristina Brown’s former boyfriend Nick Gordon.
Gordon was arrested in Sanford in June (17) after his current girlfriend accused him of physically assaulting her and trying to prevent her from leaving the property. Laura Leal filed a police report after allegedly seeking medical treatment at a hospital, and Gordon subsequently appeared in court to face counts of kidnapping and domestic violence.
According to the Daily Mail Online, prosecutors have declined to pursue the charges after Leal reportedly stopped co-operating and asked for the case to be dropped.
“Leal became unhappy with the criminal justice process,” an official court document reads.
She is then said to have submitted a written request to the judge indicating she no longer wanted to press charges.
However, before the case was dropped, prosecutors reportedly “sought and obtained proof that sanctions requiring Mr Gordon to undergo a four hour anger management course and a four hour alcohol and substance abuse course had been successfully completed prior to filing the notice of no prosecution”.
It is unclear why Leal no longer wanted to cooperate with authorities, but it’s good news for Gordon, who was previously found civilly liable for Brown’s death in 2015. He was ordered to pay Bobbi Kristina’s estate officials more than $36 million (£27.9 million) after he was accused of physically assaulting Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown’s daughter and giving her a “toxic cocktail” of substances, which appear to have led to her losing consciousness in the bathtub. Gordon has always denied the allegations.
Coroners ruled 22-year-old Bobbi Kristina died from a combination of drugs and drowning.
