Geri Halliwell has ‘had to let Spice Girls reunion go’

Geri Horner “really pushed” for the Spice Girls to reunite for their 20th anniversary, but in the end had to “let it go”.

The 45-year-old singer was one fifth of the chart-topping girl group in the 90s, and was known as Ginger Spice. Last year (16) marked 20 years since the release of their debut single Wannabe, and Geri, Melanie Brown and Emma Bunton released a teaser video in which they hinted they were working on something as a trio called GEM – without Victoria Beckham or Melanie Chisholm.

However, in a new interview with Britain’s Red magazine, Geri admitted the reunion plans have well and truly stalled.

“I really pushed to get everyone back together. It got to the point where I just had to let it go,” she told the publication. “I still love the girls, and there are other bits and bobs in the pipeline.”

Geri is now looking to the future, and is planning to focus on television projects. She’s also hoping to further her philanthropic efforts, telling the magazine: “I want to reclaim my identity (and) do things I’m proud of and contribute to the world. I think it’s time to throw my hat in the ring.”
