Geri Halliwell tests new music on daughter

British singer Geri Halliwell has found the perfect song critic for her new album – her seven-year-old daughter. The former Spice Girl has recruited fellow flame-haired pop star Ed Sheeran’s songwriter Amy Wadge for her latest solo record but admits that despite having a professional on-board, she relies on her daughter’s approval before the tracks get the all clear.
Halliwell joined Wadge in a shed in Wales to pen songs for the as-yet-untitled album and insists that the future offering will be very different from her past pop-filled efforts.
She tells Britain’s The Sun, “Amy wrote Gold Rush with Ed Sheeran and we wrote in her shed together in Wales. I’m writing a new album and we’ve been doing stripped down, acoustic sets – I’m progressing to new sounds.
“My daughter listens to my own music, the way I test a really great song is to ask a child whether they like it.”
