The Sideways actor wants to revive The Rhino from his youth – because the charging character remains one of his favourite comic book bad guys.
Giamatti made his case during an appearance on U.S. late-night show Conan on Tuesday (29Mar11), stating, “The Rhino was fantastic. He was, like, a Russian guy. He was real fast and he hit stuff real hard… He had, like, a rhino suit on, and his face was sticking out of the rhino suit and he had, like, a horn.
“I think I would be the best Rhino possible.”
So far, Andrew Garfield has been cast as Spider-Man and his supporting cast includes C. Thomas Howell, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans.
As for the villains in the new movie, Howell has let it slip that Spider-Man foe The Lizard appears, but so far there has been no mention of The Rhino, aka Aleksei Sytsevich.
