Gigi Hadid has been criticized for rocking armpit hair in her newly unveiled Love advent calendar shoot.
The American model is one of the most-sought after names in the fashion business, having recently partnered with the likes of Tommy Hilfiger and Maybelline on various projects.
For her latest gig, Gigi has appeared in LOVE magazine’s annual festive series of videos and photoshoots, where she is seen posing and practicing her volleyball moves.
But in a couple of shots for the video, Gigi is seen lifting up her arms and revealing dark underarm hair, which has sparked a debate among many of her online fans.
🎄Happy Monday! Day 11 of #LOVEADVENT is @gigihadid “I love seeing everyone else's videos. It's celebratory of epic human beings and always pushes boundaries.” Says Gigi “The fashion circle is a family, so the Love Advent kind of feels like a Holiday Year Book in a way. Headmaster Grand style.” #STAYSTRONG💥Link in bio to full film Director @philpoynter Fashion Editor @sallylyndley Make-up @hungvanngo Hair @cameronjon Casting @bitton and @twodadstwokids Music @nathangregorywilkins and @richardxbm DOP @hashtaghankoff Production @serlinassociates Post Production @millchannel and @millbeautychannel Editor @kateowenedit
“Is that armpit hair??? I’m shook (sic),” one Instagram user wrote, while another commented: “Ew, under her arms…”
However, other fans were excited to see the 22-year-old embrace a natural look in the shoot. One follower stated, “Yes work those armpit hairs.”
Many others showed support by noting, “We literally all have hair in our armpits,” and, “All humans grow hair everywhere. It’s natural and not a big deal.”
Gigi is yet to respond to the debate herself. Her shoot was helmed by Phil Poynter and concludes with her gazing into the camera and stating, “Stay strong”.
A message from the blonde star also flashes up on the screen, stating: It’s celebratory of epic human beings and always pushes boundaries. The fashion circle is a family, so the LOVE advent kind of feels like a Holiday Year Book in a way.”
LOVE magazine editor-in-chief Katie Grand previously stated that the super sexy project was a celebration of womanhood.
“Peace on earth and goodwill towards all men…well, towards all women, anyway,” she said in a statement. “That seemed to just about sum up this year…it’s festive, it’s fun and it’s everything we love about women enjoying being women, on their own terms.”
Other stars to nab spots on the calendar include Sara Sampaio, Taylor Hill, Doutzen Kroes, Ashley Graham and Kendall Jenner.
