Gigi Hadid fumes after photographer threatens legal action over photo use

Gigi Hadid has vented after learning a member of the paparazzi is “legally pursuing” her over the use of a photo.

The supermodel took to Instagram on Friday (19Oct18) after she was informed by her manager that a photographer was suing her for reposting an image of herself that she found on Twitter.

Gigi has since deleted the photo in question from her Instagram page, and in a statement, fumed that she was “trying to be open” about the situation in spite of the distress she feels when she is followed by the paparazzi.

“All this to say that it is not spoken enough about the mental/emotional toll that this kind of pressure has on people, days I (& countless others) have stayed inside because I just don’t want to have that photo taken or to have that attention/suffocation while just trying to live as normally as possible,” the 23-year-old wrote. “And for someone to take a situation where I was trying to be open, and sue me for a photo I FOUND ON TWITTER (with no photographers name on the image), for a photo he has already been paid for by whatever outlet has put it online (!!!), is absurd (sic).”

Gigi noted that she could not have known “which of the 15+ photographers outside that day took these exact photos,” adding that she would have happily credited the photographer if they had got in contact.

She also called out photographers who take legal action against those who post snaps to fan accounts around the world.

“To all the fans who are getting their accounts taken down or being sued themselves, please know if I could help more I would, and I think about you all the time,” she added.

The fashion star has received a lot of support over her statement from fellow celebrities, including her sister Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski and Kylie Jenner.
