Glastonbury boss lands top music industry honour

Michael Eavis, the founder of Britain’s iconic Glastonbury festival, is to receive a top honour for his contribution to the music industry. The festival boss will be bestowed with the Music Industry Trusts (MITS) Award at a gala in London later this year (14) to celebrate his achievements since hosting the first festival at his site in Somerset, England in 1970.
David Munns, chairman of the MITS Award committee, says of Eavis, “Through his tireless dedication, Glastonbury has become an important landmark in the cultural life of this country, with its influence spreading well beyond these shores.”
The award will be presented at an event on 3 November (14). Eavis follows in the footsteps of previous winners including Sir Elton John, Sir Tom Jones and Annie Lennox.
