Glenn Close plotting stage return

Hollywood veteran Glenn Close is planning to return to her theatre roots this autumn (14) for her first major stage role in over 15 years. The Fatal Attraction star made the revelation during an interview at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah on Monday (20Jan14), but she stopped short of going into details for fear of upsetting producers behind the secret show.
She said, “I’m planning a play in the fall (autumn). I’m not sure what the producer’s plan is. I think he might want more of a cast before (making an official announcement).
“It’s just a very complex play. It’s very challenging. You get back to the basics… It’s like somebody said, ‘A mountain of a play.'”
Close, who did not even disclose where the new show would take place, last appeared in a big Broadway production when she took the lead in a revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical Sunset Boulevard in 1994. It ran for more than two years and earned her a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role.
She also made a one-night appearance on Broadway in 2003 in The Play What I Wrote, in addition to a brief role in Off-Broadway musical Busker Alley in 2006.
