Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga didn’t walk the red carpet but her black Chanel gown adorned with silver chains, dramatic face net, and scepter were a hit even as she sat in the audience. Do you think she was born that way?

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj’s pope accessory and red Versace cardinal habit revealed that the singer is trying to steal some of Gaga’s red carpet controversy. Too bad the outfit seemed awkward and irreverent on the night after Whitney Houston’s death.

Rihanna

Rihanna looked super sexy in a black silk Giorgio Armani gown with a plunging neckline and high slit. This is what we’d imagine the outfits at a Hollywood funeral to look like. In some ways that’s what this night was, what with the tragic death of Whitney Houston yesterday.

Fergie

Fergie's lace orange Gaultier dress with structured sleeves suits her--if only we couldn't see her, ahem, suit underneath. We know she's being risqué on purpose, but we wish she'd gone for another pop of color if she wanted to get some real attention. The black just looks desperate.

Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale was one of many lasses in white dresses on the red carpet tonight. The black velvet sash on her silk Zuhair Murad dress was lovely, but overall the look--especially with her perfectly curled brown hair--looked more Golden Globes appropriate than the anything-goes Grammy's red carpet.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry looked every bit the firework with her pretty blue coif. Her powder blue Elie Saab embellished gown was incredibly stunning, too. “Feeling blue”—whether over Whitney’s death, or Katy’s pending divorce—never looked prettier.

Paris Hilton stunned in an ice-white Basil Soda gown with gold embroidery. She looked every bit the Hollywood Barbie with her perfect poses and her perfect tan.

La Vida Boheme showed up splattered in paint—we’re not sure why, but it did look like they were having a lot of fun.

Adele

Strawberry-haired Adele sparkled in a black gown by Giorgio Armani. The three-quarter length sleeves were the only ones on the red carpet. The cinched waist and a black grosgrain panel looked incredibly flattering on the Grammy winning singer.

Carrie Underwood went Nashville glitz at this year's awards' show. We think she looks breathtaking in this draping, crystal-encrusted "Starlet" gown by Gomez-Gracia. Her pulled back hair and shimmering makeup added just the right touch of southern glam.

Corinne Bailey Ray

Corinne Bailey Ray looked gorgeous in Christian Siriano Fall 2011 dress with a voluminous, textured skirt. The ruffles on the skirt looked great with her wild curly hair--so much volume! It's like a L'oreal commercial.

Cyndi Lauper

Like many stars mourning Whitney Houston's death, Cyndi Lauper wore black on the red carpet. Unlike other stars, Cindy decided to go all the way goth and channel Elvira with her streaked black hair and Gaultier skirt suit with chains and other doo-dads.

Kelly Osbourne

Instead of who wore it best, who rocked the colored hair best at the Grammy Awards? Kelly Osbourne was lovely in lavender, and her sparkly one-shoulder Tony Ward dress complemented the color marvelously. Who knew one of the crazy Osbourne kids would grow up to be so glam?

Robyn

Robyn looked edgy and awesome in trendy platform hiking boots and a dramatic short white dress with a long train.

Sasha Gradiva

Sasha Gradiva’s machine gun arm piece was very Terminator-esque, and contrasted with her pale pink mermaid gown. We wonder if she had any trouble with security?

Songwriter Skylar Grey looked every bit the 90's rockstar in her white long sleeved lace frock, complete with dark locks, wine-colored lips, and awesome red pumps.

Snooki

We have to hand it to Snookie--her style is always consistent, even if it's pretty tacky. Her zebra print dress may have been better left at the zoo, but we do think she looks pretty cute with her giant bow fascinator on her bright red locks.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift resembled the elegant Nicole Kidman in her high-necked, puffed-sleeve golden gown by Zuhair Murad. She definitely brought a touch of regal classiness to the wacky Grammy red carpet. To think she’s only 22!
