The Entourage actor was a member at The Park Slope Food Co-op in Brooklyn, New York, which requires customers to work for two hours and 45 minutes once every four weeks in order to shop at the store.
However, his membership has been suspended after he failed to turn up for his shifts, according to the New York Daily News.
The star’s mother tells the publication he “messed up on a few of his shifts”.
The newspaper reports Grenier has now joined a rival members-only organic food chain in Brooklyn.
Grenier has previously heaped praise on the scheme – insisting he loved the experience because he wasn’t treated any differently to his co-workers.
He told New York Magazine, “The reason why I’m part of the co-op is that I don’t get special treatment.
“Everyone contributes. It’s a relaxed, sensible sharing of work that needs to get done. I do it because of the sense of community. And I believe that effort and contribution toward something communal is healthy for somebody’s psyche.”
