Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted her body can no longer cope with her old punishing exercise regime.
The 44-year Goop founder has been very open about her pursuit of the body beautiful in the past, previously sharing details of her two-hour workouts with celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson, but in an interview with The Edit she admitted she no longer has the stamina to maintain her gruelling workouts, and her advancing years are a big factor.
“I used to exercise for two hours a day… An hour of cardio and an hour of weights. But there’s just no time anymore. I’m getting old, my back hurts! It’s depressing,” she sighed to The Edit. “Some days, the gym gives me this rush of energy and I feel amazing, but then my body’s like, ‘F**k you.’”
Gwyneth began working out with Tracy in 2006, training for six days a week using her Tracy Anderson Method to get the trainer’s signature long and lean physique. Coupled with a strict vegan diet, and regular detoxes, the Iron Man star was one of Hollywood’s healthiest and fittest celebrities long before it became fashionable.
However, the mother of two, who has son Moses and daughter Apple with ex-husband Chris Martin, admits she has definitely rolled back on the strict diet, and now enjoys tucking into indulgent food.
“I can’t be on a cleanse all the time… I did one for seven weeks last year and it was awful,” she cringed.
“My first meal of the day is normally lunch; I keep it light on carbs so my energy levels don’t peak and valley through the day.
“At home, I loosen the reins: a glass of wine, maybe a baguette dripping in cheese, some fries… On vacation, I eat what I want – and there’s no exercising, either.”
