Harrison Ford and Melissa Gilbert lend a hand at homeless shelter

The Blade Runner star and Gilbert braved the rain and helped members of the Los Angeles Mission distribute meals to nearly 4,000 people struggling to make ends meet at the Skid Row shelter.

Donning a red apron, kind-hearted Ford told local TV station KTLA, “I wish them all the best. I’m happy that they’re here, and I hope they understand that people are concerned about their welfare.”

Meanwhile, Gilbert uploaded an image of herself and son Michael at the event on Twitter.com, alongside a caption which read, “My boy Michael at the LA Mission to serve Christmas Dinner.”

Actress Lisa Rinna also served but former Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel, who was due to take part in the festivities, had to pull out when her dog Anna fell sick.

She tweeted, “(I) was supposed to serve food this morning for skidrowChristmas… Taking my baby girl Anna to the vet this morning. I think she had a stroke and the left side of her body won’t work.”
