Heathers TV revamp dropped by U.S. network bosses

Plans to bring Winona Ryder’s cult film Heathers to the small screen have suffered a setback after bosses at U.S. network Bravo decided against picking up the TV reboot. The 1989 movie, which pitted Ryder’s character against a clique of fellow schoolgirls, all named Heather, was given a revamp for TV by screenwriter Mark Rizzo and Sex and the City writer Jenny Bicks. The project would have followed the life of the teenage daughter of Ryder’s Veronica.
However, it appears the series has failed to impress and Bravo executives have chosen not to press ahead with plans to air it, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It was Bicks’ second failed attempt to revive Heathers for a new generation of viewers after previously attempting to sell the idea to the Fox channel in 2009.
