Heavy rockers to risk death in performance art stunt

British death metal rockers Unfathomable Ruination are putting their lives on the line by performing in an air-tight container until they run out of oxygen as part of a performance art stunt. The band members have agreed to take part in Portuguese artist Joao Onofre’s Box Sized Die installation, which requires the stars to seal themselves inside a soundproof cube for three consecutive days outside London’s The Gherkin skyscraper from Wednesday (02Jul14).
Onofre tells Britain’s The Independent newspaper, “The performance’s duration is limited to the length of time in which oxygen is expended. Outside the cube, viewers observe its strange vibrations, only viewing the band’s entrance and exit to the performance space.”
Unfathomable Ruination have since confirmed the news on their Facebook.com profile and revealed doctors have advised against the dangerous stunt.
The message reads: “Well since this is going pretty viral already, we shall see you this Wednesday at 8:45am then Thursday and Friday at 6pm.
“PS- According to the medical professionals who read the Independent, we’re all going to die… Challenge Accepted.”
