High demand for Garth Brooks’ Atlanta show causes site to crash

Fans of country superstar Garth Brooks have been left frustrated after high demand for access to his comeback concerts in Atlanta, Georgia caused a top ticketing website to crash. The Friends In Low Places hitmaker announced plans for his first big tour in 13 years last month (Jul14) and he recently revealed he will grace the stage at the city’s Philips Arena on 19 September (14).
Tickets for the show sold out immediately after going on sale on Friday morning (08Aug14), prompting promoters to quickly add two additional gigs for a later, second set on 19 September and another on 20 September (14).
Devotees rushed to grab tickets for the extra concerts on Ticketmaster.com, but the huge surge of web customers was too much for the site to handle, causing it to shut down.
Sales were subsequently suspended to allow Ticketmaster bosses time to resolve the issue and Brooks admits he is disappointed at the way the situation has been handled as fans are still waiting for tickets to go live again.
Speaking on a local radio station, he said, “At this point I can’t say anything. “What I want to say to you is we’re going to do it right next time and I don’t know why it’s taking so long for anything to happen.
“Ticketmaster will figure this out and tell me. Tell (the fans) for me that I love them to pieces… I don’t feel like we were prepared…
“I say we need to take a break and regroup because if we get a second shot we can’t … mess that up.”
