Home Alone star John Heard dead at 72

Home Alone star has died at the age of 72.
Police were called to a Palo Alto, California hotel on Friday (21Jul17) to investigate a report of a medical emergency, but the actor was pronounced dead at the scene, according to TMZ.com.
A cause of death has yet to be determined.
Heard’s passing occurred just two days after he underwent “minor back surgery” at Stanford Medical Center on Wednesday. He had been staying at the hotel while he recovered, his representative told the outlet.
The Washington, D.C. native began his career in the 1970s, landing an early role in off-Broadway play The Wager in 1974.
He made his TV debut in small screen movies Valley Forge, The Scarlet Letter, and Legs, and made the transition into Hollywood with films like Chilly Scenes of Winter, Heart Beat, Cutter’s Way, and C.H.U.D.
However, his most memorable role came in 1990, when he was cast in Home Alone as Peter McCallister, the father of Macaulay Culkin’s character Kevin, a child who is accidentally left behind during a Christmas family vacation to Paris, France.
The beloved comedy became a huge hit, and has since become a festive classic, with the stars returning for a sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York in 1992.
The franchise spawned three other sequels, although they featured an entirely new cast.
Heard later went on to guest star in hit mob drama The Sopranos, for which he earned an Emmy nomination, and in Battlestar Galactica, in which he portrayed Commander Barry Garner.
His other credits include TV projects Cross of Fire, CSI: Miami, Prison Break, and The Chicago Code, and films such as The Pelican Brief, Big, One Eight Seven, Mindwalk, and Awakenings.
