Houston, We Have a Problem

Will Whitney Houston be cashed? That’s the big question, as Hawaii County prosecutors prepare to file pot-possession charges against the singer.

You may remember how, back in January, Houston was allegedly stopped with 15.2 grams of marijuana by airport security at Keahole-Kona International Airport’s United Airlines terminal.

Houston walked away from the guards who had searched her bag, and boarded her flight to San Francisco, which took off before police arrived. The airport’s private security officers do not have the power to detain passengers for crimes that don’t threaten airport safety.

According to the Hawaii Tribune Herald, the charge against Houston carries up to 30 days in the slammer and a $1,000 fine. She’s due in court Oct. 26, although her lawyers will likely appear on her behalf.

Court TV has applied for permission to cover Houston’s case, says the Hawaii newspaper.
