Imelda Staunton picks up theatre award

Staunton and Ball, who play murderous partners in crime in the Stephen Sondheim production, went head-to-head at the London prizegiving, where they were both nominated in the Best Performance in a Musical category.

But it was Staunton who came out on top as the winners were unveiled at a ceremony on Sunday (28Oct12).

Acting duo Prunella Scales and Timothy West also walked away with The Stage Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Theatre in recognition of their longstanding commitment to productions outside the British capital.
