Imposter cons top store bosses out of jewellery by pretending to be Nick Cannon’s sidekick

Mariah Carey’s husband Nick Cannon has found his name linked to a bizarre jewellery heist after an imposter pretended to be his assistant and conned staff at top Los Angeles store Fred Segal to hand over gems at a Hollywood hotel. The unidentified man reportedly called the Santa Monica branch of the store, stated he worked for Cannon, and told staff his boss needed some jewellery immediately.
According to TMZ.com, a woman at the store agreed to take the select jewellery items to the Roosevelt Hotel, where she was met by another man who claimed to be a security guard.
He offered to take the goods up to Cannon’s room and return with cash, but he disappeared.
It is not clear how much the stolen jewellery was worth.
