Iranian Man Accused of ‘Game of Thrones’ Hack Attack

An Iranian man has been charged with leaking stolen episodes and plot summaries from the most recent season of Game Of Thrones.

A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office has identified Behzad Mesri as the person who hacked into cable network HBO’s database, stole plot points and footage, and then threatened to release the data unless he was paid millions.

A sealed indictment describes Mesri as a self-professed hacking expert, who once worked with military officials in his native Iran.

His alleged hack attack took place just before the most recent season of Game of Thrones launched this summer (17). He is also accused of stealing unaired episodes of Dwayne Johnson’s cable TV series Ballers and Larry David’s comedy show Curb Your Enthusiasm.
