It’s A Wonderful Life sequel in jeopardy

A sequel to It’s A Wonderful Life has been thrown into doubt after bosses at the movie studio behind the Christmas classic insisted they are determined to “protect” the rights to the film. Actress Karolyn Grimes, who played James Stewart’s daughter Zuzu in the heartwarming 1949 film, recently revealed there are plans in place for a follow-up focusing on the grandson of Stewart’s character George Bailey.
However, executives at Paramount, the studio which owns the rights to the movie, have now declared they will take steps to ensure there is no licence infringement.
A spokesperson for Paramount tells The Hollywood Reporter, “No project relating to It’s A Wonderful Life can proceed without a license from Paramount. To date, these individuals have not obtained any of the necessary rights, and we would take all appropriate steps to protect those rights.”
The sequel, It’s A Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story, was slated to hit the big screen in time for the 2015 holiday season.
