Ja Rule mastered cooking behind bars

Rapper Ja Rule has mastered the art of cooking after using his time behind bars to perfect his culinary skills. The Always On Time hitmaker, real name Jeffrey Atkins, was released from Ray Brook Federal Prison in Saranac Lake, New York earlier this year (13) after serving sentences for attempted illegal gun possession and tax evasion.
It has now emerged the rapper opted to cook his own food during his two-year stint in prison because he did not take a liking to the food served inside.
He tells TMZ.com, “It’s not too good… I didn’t really eat prison food. I didn’t go to the chow hall (canteen) too much… We usually just cooked in our dorm… In jail it’s pretty crafty, so we made everything, we made lasagna, you know cheesecakes, we ate a lot of fish, a lot of salmon, and stuff like that.”
