The Strain actor Jack Kesy is leaping into action to star as a villain in the forthcoming Deadpool sequel.
Ryan Reynolds will reprise his leading role as the titular antihero for the follow-up to 2016’s smash hit, and it was recently confirmed Josh Brolin had been cast as Deadpool’s main nemesis, Cable.
Now Kesy has joined the line-up, and although details about his bad guy character have yet to be revealed, sources suggest he could be preparing to play ‘Black Tom’ Cassidy, according to Deadline.com.
In the Marvel comics the films are based on, the mutant Black Tom is depicted as a supervillain in the X-Men universe, a friend of Juggernaut and the archenemy of his cousin Banshee.
Meanwhile, Ryan’s onscreen love interest Morena Baccarin has closed a deal to return as Vanessa, joining a cast which also includes newcomer Zazie Beetz as Domino.
David Leitch will direct Deadpool 2, after original filmmaker Tim Miller walked away from the project in October (16) due to creative differences with Reynolds.
The sequel is set to hit theatres next year (18).
