James Corden ‘too busy’ to celebrate 40th birthday

James Corden won’t be throwing a lavish 40th birthday party when he hits the milestone this summer (18).

The former Gavin and Stacey star juggles a successful career in the U.S. hosting The Late Late Show with James Corden with raising three children – son Max, seven, and daughters Carey, three, and Charlotte, six months – with wife Julia.

And he told British publication The Sun the family’s most recent addition, who arrived two weeks early in December (17), had left him too busy to be throwing parties.

“A third one is hard. It’s like you’re already swimming in the ocean then somebody throws you a baby to juggle,” he joked with the news outlet. “But it’s great fun too, and in the end that’s what it’s all about. It’s about who is going to be around your Christmas table in 20 years’ time. It’s a lot of effort, but you get back what you put in.”

In 2016, the funnyman enjoyed a birthday surprise live on air while filming an episode of The Late Late Show, when singer-songwriter Montell Jordan ran onto the stage to perform the host’s all-time top track, 1995’s This is How We Do It.

“No, no!” the Carpool Karaoke star exclaimed in disbelief before jumping up and singing along word-for-word with the hitmaker.

Meanwhile, the TV personality has been in London this week (ends24June18) filming a special four-part series of the hit CBS talk show, featuring a bumper line-up of A-list stars including Orlando Bloom, Cher, Sir Paul McCartney and Niall Horan.

The Brit confessed he’d love to take the show on the road again, even touring cities across the UK, but admitted it would be difficult to pull off.

“It’s something I’d love to do but the problem is getting the guests,” he shared. “It’s not easy to convince big stars to travel to far-flung places.”
