Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn is among those offering condolences to Zack Snyder following the death of his daughter.

The Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice director’s 20-year-old daughter Autumn took her own life in March (17), prompting Snyder to step down from the helm of the much-anticipated Justice League blockbuster, hiring Joss Whedon to complete the Warner Bros. blockbuster.

“I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

Snyder’s wife, Deborah, who is a producer on Justice League, is also taking a break to focus on family matters.

Following the tragic news, James was among the stars who took to social media to offer Snyder their support.

“My thoughts and prayers are with @ZackSnyder and his family. Much love to all of them,” he wrote.
Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins tweeted, “Our hearts are with the Snyder’s and have been. Truly good people and friends to so many. xoxo”, while Furious 7 filmmaker James Wan wrote: “My heart breaks for Zack and Deb. Condolences to their family.”

Meanwhile actor and director Kevin Smith wrote on his Twitter page: “My heart goes out to you, @ZackSnyder. I’m sorry for your family’s loss. We all love you, sir. I’m here if you need anything.”

And Jon Berg, producer on Justice League, added: “Thank you @ZackSnyder for leading the league with passion and creativity. We are all so sorry for your family’s loss.”

The news of the death of Snyder’s daughter from his first marriage has been kept private until now, with the family telling only a small inner circle of friends.

“I never planned to make this public,” the director explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “I thought it would just be in the family, a private matter, our private sorrow that we would deal with. When it became obvious that I need to take a break, I knew there would be narratives created on the internet. They’ll do what they do. The truth is… I’m past caring about that kind of thing now.”
