Actor Jamie Foxx is joining the new Robin Hood: Origins film – as the outlaw’s sidekick Little John.
The Django Unchained star will appear alongside the Kingsman: The Secret Service‘s Taron Egerton and Eve Hewson, who will play Robin Hood and Maid Marian, respectively, in the film about Robin Hood’s early days in Sherwood Forest after returning from the Crusades.
The film will be directed by Peaky Blinders’ Otto Bathurst and produced by Leonardo DiCaprio. It is slated to begin shooting later this year (16).
Little John has featured in most of the big screen Robin Hoods, with actors Alan Hale (Robin Hood, 1922), David Morrissey (Robin Hood, 1991), Kevin Durand (Robin Hood, 2010), and Nick Brimble (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, 1991) offering up the best portrayals.
