Jana Kramer: ‘One Tree Hill was a divided set’

Jana Kramer has opened up about her time on the set of One Tree Hill.
The 35-year-old country singer starred as Alex Dupre in the TV drama series from 2009-2012, before leaving the show to focus on promoting her debut album. And while she had mostly positive things to say about the experience, she revealed during a chat with her former co-star Bethany Joy Lenz on her Whine Down With Jana Kramer podcast that, when she joined the series, the cast was already “divided”.
“It was hard for us because I felt like when we came on the show, just being so honest, it was a very divided set,” she shared. “I feel like everyone already kinda had their places and it was either, ‘You’re going to be on the A-team or the B-team?’ It was just tricky.”
Bethany, who starred in the show from its inception in 2003, agreed with Jana’s comments, and the pair mused that the show’s creator Mark Schwahn, who faced sexual harassment claims from the cast including Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton, probably contributed to the animosity.
“I think our creator kinda created that environment, as well. I don’t know what he’s doing now. But that was probably the hardest part about (being on the show),” Jana concluded.
