Jane Lynch: ‘Cory Monteith grief has been brutal for Lea Michele’

Cory Monteith’s death continues to be tough on his Glee castmates, according to actress Jane Lynch, who will honour the tragic star at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night (22Sep13). Lynch has stepped up to pay tribute to her fallen friend and co-star, who died from an overdose of heroin and alcohol in July (13), during a special In Memoriam segment at the ceremony, and she admits the actor has left a huge hole on the set of Glee.
She tells People magazine, “I think that grieving comes in waves. Every day that I go to work, I walk past his trailer, and every time I look at a call sheet I see that his name is not on there.
“Every time I do a scene with the kids I realise that he’s not there, so you’re reminded in every moment. It’s hard, and it feels like such a waste.”
But whatever Lynch is feeling, she knows that Monteith’s grieving girlfriend and co-star Lea Michele is suffering more than most.
She adds, “I know it’s just been brutal for her. I never lost a boyfriend when I was 26 years old. I can’t tell her what her experience is.”
But the brave star is finding a way to cope and Lynch has nothing but admiration for her spirit: “She’s a champion, and she is a rock star, and she is getting through this.”
