Jay Z and Timbaland want copyright lawsuit appeal dismissed

Jay Z and Timbaland are asking a judge to dismiss an appeal in their Big Pimpin’ copyright infringement lawsuit.
The hip hop heavyweight and producer Timbaland emerged victorious in their copyright infringement lawsuit in October, 2015, when a judge ruled the pair did not lift the melody from Baligh Hamdi’s 1957 Egyptian song Khosara, Khosara without permission and that the musician’s nephew, Osama Ahmed Fahmy, lacked the legal standing to pursue his copyright claim.
In February (16), a judge officially dismissed the lawsuit, but Fahmy has appealed the ruling.
Now, lawyers for Jay Z and Timbaland have filed a motion to dismiss the appeal filing and uphold the original ruling, according to AllHipHop.com.
In their legal filing, lawyers for the 99 Problems rapper and Timbaland reportedly claim Fahmy signed away his rights to the song and is trying to base his arguments on copyright laws which don’t exist.
