Veteran actor Jeff Goldblum turned surprise sausage vendor on Tuesday (25Apr17) when he debuted a new food truck in Sydney, Australia.

Amused locals found the Jurassic Park star handing out sandwiches from a truck labelled “Chef Goldblum’s Jazzy Snags” at Wynyard and Circular Quay, and the line for the tasty treats quickly grew as Jeff took his time to chat with each customer and take pictures with them.

The actor, who filmed upcoming superhero movie Thor: Ragnarok Down Under last year (16), didn’t reveal the specific purpose of the stunt, but suggested it was “research” for a new acting role.

“I’ve gotta do some work,” the 64-year-old told Australia’s The Daily Telegraph when asked why he was there. “I was doing the Thor movie on the Gold Coast some time ago, but now I’m doing a project that I have to be secretive about but there is some thematic tie-in to this.”

“I’m doing a little research for some work that I’m going to do in my chosen profession,” Jeff added, cryptically. “I like food, I’m very interested in food, but you’ll have to wait.”

No further details about the planned project have been made public, but the food truck appearance was staged on the same day it was announced Jeff would be reprising his Jurassic Park role as mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm from the 1993 original and its 1997 follow-up for the forthcoming Jurassic World sequel, in which he will star alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

His food research isn’t the only thing keeping Goldblum busy these days – earlier this month (Apr17), his wife Emily gave birth to their second child, a boy named River Joe Goldblum. They are also parents to son Charlie, who will turn two in July (17).
