Jeffrey Dean Morgan was left red-faced after accidentally revealing that he and wife Hilarie Burton are expecting a daughter at the Supernatural convention in New Jersey on Sunday (24Sep17).
The 51-year-old actor was just one of the castmembers of the hit TV show to take to the stage at the official fan convention at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus. But Jeffrey’s appearance didn’t quite go to plan, after the star let slip the gender of his and Hilarie’s unborn child.
Shortly after the faux pas, Jeffrey took to Instagram to share a shot of himself the moment he realised his mistake, alongside the caption: “Whoever took this picture?? Caught a moment… thank you. We shall cherish…. I texted @hilarieburton right after I spilled the little girl beans… and, as usual… she was a rockstar. After all these years she’s come to expect me to be a dope… thank god she gets it, and loves me regardless.”
Jeffrey’s error came after he and Hilarie confirmed the news they are set to add to their family following an enthusiastic display on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards earlier this month.
One Tree Hill star Hilarie concealed her burgeoning bump in a flowing peach Lanvin gown, but Jeffrey clearly couldn’t hold back his joy at the impending birth, grinning from ear-to-ear as he posed for photographers with his hand on his wife’s stomach.
The 35-year-old has been dating Jeffrey since 2009 and they reportedly married in 2014. They are also parents to seven-year-old son Gus. Speaking to Parade magazine previously about his son, Jeffrey gushed: “He does; he’s a mini me. I know everyone thinks that their kid is the greatest, but I’m telling you right now that my kid is. We named him after the character Robert Duvall plays in the miniseries Lonesome Dove.”
