Why Jennifer Lawrence Missed the Globes

Jennifer Lawrence started getting glammed up so she could be Emma Stone’s date at the Golden Globes afterparties, but her pal ditched their plans at the last minute.

The Easy A actress walked the red carpet of the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles on Sunday night (07Jan18) with tennis star Billie Jean King, who she was nominated for portraying in Battle of the Sexes.

However, she had invited her good friend Jennifer to join her for the afterparties, so Jennifer brought round her glam squad to get her ready, but while she was halfway through preparations Emma revealed she didn’t want to go anymore.

The Hunger Games star posted a video, which had been filmed by Emma, on her Facebook page and in the background Emma can be heard asking, “Hey, what happened tonight?”

“You had told me that you wanted me to be your date to the afterparties, so I got us tickets to some afterparties, I booked a car and was halfway through glam when you told me that you didn’t wanna go,”

Jennifer explained, before turning to face the camera straight-on, showing that the left side of her face was made up, but the right was make-up free.

“You just wanted to come over to my house, so I just sent my hair and make-up team home and now this is what I look like!”

The duo erupted into laughter and Emma can be heard saying, “You’re the best!” through her giggles.

The actresses became friends after Emma was given Jennifer’s number by their mutual friend Woody Harrelson. They texted each other daily for a year before they eventually met up.

La La Land actress Emma recently explained to W magazine that they bonded over a ‘stalker’ they dubbed John the Orchestra Guy, who would send them random texts.

“As she was driving to my house, she thought, ‘Oh, my God, what if it’s John the Orchestra Guy?'” Emma smiled, recalling their first meeting. “And I thought, ‘Oh, my God, what if it’s John the Orchestra Guy?’ So Jen calls me and says, ‘I just want to make sure you’re not John the Orchestra Guy’. I wasn’t. And we met. It’s our adorable love story.”
