Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez fine with ‘J-Rod’ nickname

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez don’t mind being referred to as ‘J-Rod’.
The On The Floor hitmaker started dating former sportsman Alex back in March (17), with fans merging their respective nicknames – JLo and A-Rod – to create a new moniker for the couple.
Their relationship is going from strength to strength, and Jennifer was asked what she made of the nickname as she attended the Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday night (27Apr17).
“It’s fine. We kind of thought that would happen…” she laughed. “Because people who knew us were already (saying) it. So, you guys, it’s not like you were original or anything.”
Alex, 41, didn’t join Jennifer on the red carpet at the event, but the 47-year-old singer revealed he would be flying into Florida from Connecticut later in the evening. Regardless of his absence, Alex remains ever supportive of his girlfriend, and particularly of her upcoming Spanish-language album.
“Alex loves it,” she said of his thoughts on the record. “I’m so excited, you know, every time I finish something, I bring it home and I want him to hear it.
“He’s so supportive. He’s such a supportive person and he’s so lovely.”
Jennifer performed her new Spanish single Mirate at the awards ceremony, and received a standing ovation from her ex-husband Marc Anthony, who produced the record.
And speaking about her new offering, Jennifer said she believes it’s her best work to date.
“I think it’s one of the best albums I’ve made in a long time and I’m super proud of it,” she said, before adding of Mirate, “It’s an emotional song. A lot of the songs on the album are like that, even the up-tempo ones have like this beautiful lyrical content… about love and life.”
It was more than a successful evening for Jennifer, who took home the Premio de la Estrella prize and Telemundo’s Star Award at the event.
