Jennifer Lopez’s engagement ring valued at over $1 million

Jennifer Lopez’s stunning engagement ring from Alex Rodriguez is likely to have set the former baseball player back a cool $1 million (£769,000).
The retired sportsman took to Instagram on Saturday (09Mar19) to tell fans of the couple’s happy engagement news. Sharing a picture of Jennifer showing off her stunning new accessory, Alex wrote: “She said yes.”
The couple is currently on vacation in the Bahamas.
Following the engagement announcement, speculation began about Jennifer’s gorgeous diamond ring, with jewellery expert Kathryn Money, vice president of strategy and merchandising for jewellery company Brilliant Earth, telling Entertainment Tonight the jewel easily cost more than $1 million.
“J.Lo’s stunning engagement ring from A-Rod appears to feature a 12-15 carat emerald cut diamond in a classic solitaire white gold or platinum setting,” she told ET. “The elegant simplicity of the ring’s design allows the gorgeous, show-stopping centre diamond to be the focal point.”
Money noted that the exact estimate depends on the quality and specific characteristics of the diamond, which is why other estimates may put the value higher.
She added that the popularity of “fancy cut” gemstones, i.e. non-round jewels, has increased dramatically in recent years, with Jennifer Lawrence, Katherine Schwarzenegger and Lea Michele all receiving rings with fancy cut diamonds from their husbands-to-be.
Meanwhile, Andrew Brown, president of WP Diamonds, also estimated the ring’s value at more than $1 million, and told E! News: “It looks to be an emerald cut around 10 carats, likely an extremely good stone – VS in colour and clarity.”
Jennifer and Alex have been dating for just over two years, and the singer/actress recently celebrated their anniversary by taking to social media and posting: “You make my world a more beautiful safe and stable place… in the midst of our ever-changing, ever moving life.”
Alex added: “We are meant to be, and how much you mean to me cannot be put into words.”
This will be Jennifer’s fourth marriage and fifth engagement; she was married to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd and Marc Anthony – the father of her twins Max and Emme – while Ben Affleck was also engaged to marry the star, but they postponed their wedding in 2003 with just four days notice.
