Actress Jessica Alba is returning to comedy to star in festive Netflix movie El Camino Christmas.

The Sin City beauty will portray a reporter in the film, joining previously announced stars Tim Allen, Vincent D’Onofrio, Dax Shepard, and Luke Grimes.

El Camino Christmas will center on a young man who finds himself barricaded in a liquor store with five other people on Christmas Eve, according to Deadline.com.

RoboCop and That ’70s Show actor Kurtwood Smith will play the sheriff of fictional Nevada town El Camino.

The movie, which also features Michelle Mylett, Emilio Rivera, Kimberly Quinn, and Jimmy O. Yang, has been a passion project for Hidden Figures filmmaker Ted Melfi, who revamped the original script by Chris Wehner.

“El Camino Christmas is something that I started 10 years ago when I bought the script from Chris, and I have been trying to make the movie ever since,” Melfi told Deadline.com last month (Apr17). “Finally, with the help of Netflix, which has been so fantastic, we are getting this movie off the ground in time for Christmas.”

David E. Talbert will direct the film for streaming service Netflix. It will be his second festive feature – he also wrote and took charge of 2016’s Almost Christmas with Danny Glover, Gabrielle Union, and Mo’Nique.

Production on El Camino Christmas is currently underway in Los Angeles.

Alba previously starred in comedies like Good Luck Chuck, The Love Guru, and Little Fockers, but she has become more well known for her action films of late, including the original Fantastic Four movies, Machete, and last year’s (16) Mechanic: Resurrection.
