Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer Back Together for Holiday Comedy

Former The Help co-stars Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer are reuniting onscreen for a new holiday film.

Both artists earned Oscar nominations for their performances in the 2011 drama, with Octavia beating Jessica on the night to claim the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role award.

They have continued to champion one another’s work ever since, and now Jessica has recruited her friend to join the currently-untitled project for Universal Pictures, about two women who have to fight the winter elements to get home in time for Christmas.

According to Variety.com, The Martian star came up with the original idea with her production partner Kelly Carmichael for the actress’ Freckle Films company, and The Proposal screenwriter Peter Chiarelli has since been hired to turn it into a script.

Chastain and Carmichael will also serve as producers, alongside Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler.

The film will mark a bit of a departure for the actresses, who have both become known for their dramatic work.

Chastain is currently receiving high praise for her new movie Molly’s Game, while Spencer is also riding high with her critically-acclaimed Guillermo del Toro fantasy, The Shape of Water.
