Singer/actress Jill Scott is heading to TV for superhero series Black Lightning.
The Golden hitmaker will play Lady Eve, alongside Cress Williams, who portrays charter high school principal with superhero powers and the ability to harness and control electricity.
Scott’s character is funeral home owner with connections to villain Tobias Whale.
“Jill is an amazing artist who can embody any character and give them an authentic voice that is both nuanced and richly complex,” series creator and executive producer Salim Akil says. “I am excited to see her in the role of Lady Eve.”
The show will premiere next year (18).
This is not the first superhero role for Scott – she also voiced Storm on BET’s animated series Black Panther in 2010.
