Jim Carrey surprised his Dumb And Dumber co-star Jeff Daniels by crashing his interview on U.S. TV show Conan on Tuesday (17Apr18).
The 63-year-old actor appeared on Conan O’Brien’s show to talk about his current TV series The Looming Tower and their conversation soon turned to the 1994 buddy comedy. While he was raving about his co-star’s “comedic genius”, Jim walked through the sliding doors, rocking an all-black ensemble and sunglasses.
As the crowd cheered, he went in to give Jeff a hug, but The Newsroom star jokingly ran away towards the audience, and returned for a comical embrace as Jim lifted him off the floor. The duo then performed a quirky leg-slapping dance move before taking their seats.
On top comedy form, the Ace Ventura actor took off his glasses, noted that they were actually friends and told Jeff, “I wanted to come out here and say it in front of the world. You’re in town (Los Angeles) and you don’t call me? Not an email, nothing!” to which he replied, “I thought about it”.
Jim went on to gush about his co-star, saying: “I love being around him though… I watch everything he does. He’s incredible, most versatile actor working today – unbelievable all the things he does. I especially enjoy watching you do interviews because I know you love them, especially the parts where you talk about how working with me changed the course of your life.”
They then spent most of the chat talking about the comedy, with Jim noting that its 2014 sequel wasn’t as well received as the first, to which Jeff replied: “F**k them. We don’t care about that.”
Jeff said the original outing was a joy to shoot and he had to just “grab onto the tornado that is Jim Carrey” and let him do this thing, while Jim said he knew he would have good onscreen chemistry with Jeff because when he first saw him “there was a tingling in my groin”.
