Joan Collins evacuated from Saint-Tropez villa due to forest fires

Brtish actress Joan Collins has been evacuated from her home in the South of France after forest fires devastated her neighbourhood.
Firefighters have been battling raging infernos on the Mediterranean coast and on Tuesday (25Jul17) advised Joan, 84, to leave her villa near the glamorous resort of Saint-Tropez.
The star wrote on Twitter, “Luckily we were able to evacuate last night, not easy with 11 people in the house! We are all ok.”
She added, “Thanks everybody for good wishes about our safety in fire, all seems ok although fire still Burning started by BarBQ (sic).”
10,000 people have been evacuated from the area, with many of those forced to flee holidaymakers.
“The evacuations, at least 10,000, followed the progression of the fire. It’s an area that doubles or triples its population in summer,” a French fire service official told Agence France-Presse.
At least 12 firefighters and 15 police officers have been injured in the blaze, which broke out on Monday (24Jul17) according to French authorities.
By Tuesday the fires devastated around 15 square miles (13 square kilometres) of land along the coastline, with the island of Corsica also affected.
