Joe Taslim suiting up for Mortal Kombat movie

Star Trek Beyond actor Joe Taslim is gearing up for a fight as Sub-Zero in the live-action Mortal Kombat reboot.
The former member of Indonesia’s national Judo team, who made his acting debut in Gareth Evans’ 2011 movie The Raid, has become the first star to sign on for the forthcoming video game adaptation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Sub-Zero was previously portrayed onscreen by Francois Petit in Paul W. S. Anderson’s 1995 film, which was given a sequel, titled Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, in 1997.
Aquaman moviemaker James Wan will produce the latest project, which will serve as the feature film directorial debut for Simon McQuoid.
Production is expected to begin in Australia later this year (19).
Specific plot details about the new Mortal Kombat film have not been released, but the game it’s based on focuses on a group of top fighters battling for supremacy in a fictional universe.
