John Legend to produce The Black Count adaptation

R&B star John Legend has teamed up with True Detective director Cary Fukunaga to adapt historical biography The Black Count or the big screen. The All of Me hitmaker is expanding his resume with the 2012 Pulitzer Prize-winning biography, written by Tom Reiss.
The Black Count: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, and the Real Count of Monte Cristo, tells the story of French Revolution-era general Thomas-Alexandre Dumas, the child of a slave and a French nobleman, and the highest-ranking person of colour to ever serve in a European army.
He was also the inspiration of his author son Alexandre Dumas’ novels, including The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo.
Fukunaga is set to adapt the bestselling book for the screen, and also serve as director. Legend will produce under his Get Lifted Film Company.
