John Lennon’s first home sells at auction

John Lennon’s childhood home in Liverpool, England has sold for $720,000 (GBP480,000) at auction. The late Beatles star lived at 9 Newcastle Road in Wavertree from birth until he was five.
An anonymous telephone bidder bought the property, which was expected to fetch up to $375,000 (GBP250,000), at auction on Tuesday (29Oct13).
The terrace home is just streets away from Penny Lane.
