Judge denies Brad Pitt’s push to seal custody papers

Brad Pitt’s emergency motion to seal all paperwork relating to his custody agreement with estranged wife Angelina Jolie has been rejected by a judge.
The Inglourious Basterds star managed to avoid a bitter court battle over the custody of their six children by reaching a settlement in November (16), weeks after confirming their split in September (16).
Details about the terms of the deal soon leaked, revealing Angelina would have primary care of the kids, with Brad allowed visitation monitored by a therapist.
He must also submit to random drug and alcohol tests at least four times a month, while the former couple agreed to attend family therapy sessions with their brood, too.
The settlement was made official last week (ends02Dec16) when a Los Angeles judge signed off on the documents, but Brad wanted to seal the papers – and all future information related to the ongoing court case – from public view.
Sources close to Pitt told TMZ.com the star is concerned about the unnecessary pain the details may cause his children, who range in age from eight to 15.
The actor filed the request for an emergency hearing in a family court on Tuesday (06Dec16), but on Wednesday morning (07Dec16), Los Angeles Superior Court judge Richard J. Burdge, Jr. shot down the motion in a written order, in which he declined to address the petition on an expedited basis.
It is not yet known if Pitt will now try to file a regular motion to have the documents sealed.
The news emerges a day after Angelina’s representative shot down reports suggesting the Maleficent star was planning to move her young family to London to take up a top position with the United Nations.
Instead, the spokesperson revealed the actress/director was committed to continuing with the family counselling treatment in Los Angeles and was looking for a new home there.
