K-Pop star Jonghyun dead at 28

South Korean pop star Jonghyun has died at the age of 28.
Jonghyun, real name Kim Jong-hyun, the lead singer of the K-Pop boyband SHINee passed away after being found unconscious at a rented apartment studio in Seoul on Monday evening (18Dec17), according to Korea’s Yonhap news agency.
Investigators believe that he died from carbon monoxide poisoning. They are treating his death as a suspected suicide.
Police officials reportedly told the news agency Jonghyun had been found unconscious after his sister alerted the police over fears he planned to commit suicide.
After discovering him unconscious at his apartment, emergency responders transferred him to a local hospital, where medics failed to resuscitate him.
According to Yonhap editors, Jonghyun’s sister called the police after receiving text messages which read, “Please let me go. Tell me I did well,” and a “Final farewell”.
The star was the frontman of the country’s most popular groups. SHINee were founded in 2008 and have had five albums top South Korea’s pop charts. They have also recorded in Japanese and have topped the country’s album charts on two occasions.
He was also a member of the vocal supergroup S.M. the Ballad.
