Kaia Gerber is ‘really nerdy’ at school

Kaia Gerber is focused on completing her education before she hits the fashion scene full-time.
The 16-year-old, who is the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, made her runway debut for Raf Simons’ Calvin Klein Collection at New York Fashion Week in September (17) and has since gone on to strut her stuff for the likes of Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Prada and Versace.
While it seems it’s just a matter of time before Kaia is one of the most sought-after models in the industry, she insists that studying is her main priority at the moment.
“I’m a junior in high school, so that’s technically what I do. Modelling is really what I do during my free time. It’s fun for me, so it doesn’t feel like work. I choose to do it,” she told Teen Vogue. “Yesterday, I did three hours of AP Calculus. It’s not easy, but it’s really interesting to me. I like math, which sounds really nerdy. I get to learn things through travelling, but I also get to learn cool things through school.”
Kaia received a nomination in the Model of the Year category at the 2017 Fashion Awards on Monday (23Oct17), which also features superstars Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Adwoa Aboah and Winnie Harlow. Though the teenager has many pals in the business, she still seeks out her mother for advice.
“She just told me to be myself. That’s important to be reminded of. She told me that if I take it day by day, then I won’t get stressed. And also, to appreciate it,” she shared.
Meanwhile, Kaia has just landed a campaign for Hudson Jeans, which was shot by French fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier. The brunette star rocked a pair of trousers known as the Barbara style for the shoot, and liked them so much she kept hold of a pair.
“I stole them from the shoot because I knew I’d need these in my life,” she joked. “Hudson really makes the coolest stuff and it fits so well.”
