Kat Dennings ‘very excited’ for Natalie Portman’s female Thor

Kat Dennings is “very excited” for her friend Natalie Portman to become the first-ever female Thor.
Last month (Jul19), it was confirmed that not only was the Oscar-winning actress returning to Marvel’s franchise as Dr. Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder, but she would be playing The Mighty Thor, and Dennings, who appeared alongside Portman in 2011’s Thor and 2013’s Thor: The Dark World as Darcy Lewis, tells Entertainment Tonight she recalls the moment she found out.
“I was alone and made a sound to myself. I think it’s awesome,” the 33-year-old actress says. “That was in the comics, so I think that’s just such a great story line. I think it’s genius and I’m very excited.”
Next up for Dennings is Disney’s new Marvel spin-off, WandaVision, in which she reprises her role as Darcy, alongside Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, and Paul Bettany as Vision.
Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in November, 2021 and director Taika Waititi can’t wait to work with Portman.
Speaking at Disney’s D23 Expo on Friday (23Aug19), he said, “(She’s) a Thor…. She’s not called Female Thor. In the comics, she’s called the Mighty Thor… I couldn’t be more happy and excited.”
