Kate Beckinsale and Michael Sheen felt “unbelievably proud” after learning their daughter Lily had been accepted to attend college.
The Underworld actress gushed about Lily, 17, getting accepted into the university she wanted on Instagram on Thursday (15Dec16), sharing the touching moment the trio celebrated the good news.
In one snap, Michael, 47, can be seen lifting Lily completely off the floor with one hand on her back and another under her legs. While a second photo shows Kate wrapping her legs around his waist as they shared a tight, emotional hug.
“The appropriate fatherly response when you find out your girl got into college: burst into tears, drop everything, rush over and pick up everyone even remotely involved,” Kate wrote in the caption. “@lily_beckinsale we are so unbelievably proud of you. Fly fly fly,” followed by five love hearts.
She didn’t reveal which university Lily would be attending or what she would be studying.
The 43-year-old dated the Masters of Sex star from 1995 until 2003 and they have remained on good terms ever since, with Kate often sharing her support for his current girlfriend, Sarah Silverman.
Michael told British host Lorraine Kelly in June (16) his relationship with his ex was so strong because they put Lily above all else.
“That’s the thing – it’s been 14 years now since we broke up but we’ve got a daughter and I think anyone who really, genuinely tries to put their daughter first, inevitably your relationship changes but in some ways it’s got stronger and stronger over the years, so it’s been great,” he said.
Kate has also gushed about Sarah on several occasions, declaring she loves her, and telling Stylist magazine she’s glad Lily has such a “fantastic woman” influencing her.
The actress is currently in the middle of her divorce from husband Len Wiseman, whom she married in 2004.
