Kate Major apologises for lying about Michael Lohan knife threats

Lindsay Lohan’s future stepmother Kate Major has apologised for falsely accusing the actress’ dad Michael of threatening her with a knife following a dispute at the couple’s Florida home on Monday (17Feb14). Police were called to their Boca Raton property late on Monday to investigate reports of a domestic disturbance and Major raised fears for her safety and that of their young son Landon after posting a series of headline-grabbing accusations on Twitter.com as the fight escalated.
In the worrying tweets, Major claimed Michael Lohan had a knife and was trying to take their one-year-old baby away from her – but he challenged the claims with his own version of events on his Twitter page, insisting he was the one who had called the emergency services, adding, “All I want is for her (Major) to get help so she can be there for our wonderful son. Maybe this will do it.”
Now Major has publicly retracted her allegations, blaming fear for prompting her to lie about the seriousness of the situation.
In a statement issued to UsMagazine.com, she writes, “I regretfully tweeted while my emotions were high that I was being threatened by Michael with a knife; this was not the case.
“I made a lot of statements on Twitter that were merely out of fear that he was going to take my son from me. Please respect our privacy through this difficult time.”
Major has since deleted the false accusations from her Twitter page, and she has since returned to the blog to declare: “I love Landon & nothing will ever change that or take that from me!!!! I should not have tweeted anything. This has all turned into a whirlwind. I’m sorry.”
The embattled couple became engaged in 2010. Lohan divorced Lindsay’s mother Dina in 2007.
