Kate Winslet gave up her dreams of becoming a hairstylist after accidentally cutting off a piece of a pal’s ear.
The Titanic star thought she had what it took to become a professional after cutting her own hair as a teenager to save her family trips to the salon, but one bad snip made her realize she wasn’t cut out for styling.
“A family friend, who was a fully-grown man, allowed me to cut his hair and I cut off a piece of his ear,” the actress revealed during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I actually saw it fall… It was a little nick, not a chunk.”
Revealing she had never told the story on TV before, Kate explained she often bumps into the guy when she’s back home in Reading, England.
“I’m like, ‘Where’s the missing bit, Mick?’, and he says, ‘That’s my claim to fame…’ He’s proud of his little missing bit of ear.”
