Katherine Jenkins welcomes second child

Katherine Jenkins has become a mother for the second time.

The Welsh opera singer announced the arrival of her son Xander on Tuesday (24Apr18) by sharing a close-up picture of the new family-of-four interlocking fingers on social media.

In the snap, the baby’s hand is clutching onto her husband Andrew Levitas’ finger, while she links her fingers around one of Andrew’s, and their two-year-old daughter Aaliyah holds onto her hand.

Andrew, Aaliyah and I are proud to announce the arrival of our gorgeous son Xander Robert Selwyn Levitas,” she wrote in the caption. “His middle names honour our late fathers who live on in our little ‘Defender of Men’ (Meaning of Xander). Our family, our home and are hearts could not be more full of love & we are incredibly grateful for the gift of being parents to these beautiful children. Cwtches (cuddles) to you all.”

The 37-year-old, whose father Selwyn died of lung cancer when she was 15 years old, then thanked her followers for sending her messages of congratulations, including representatives from Macmillan Cancer Support who said the name was a “wonderful way” to pay tribute to their fathers.

She replied: “Thank you Team Macmillan – you know how important it is to remember those always in our hearts.”

Katherine, who married American artist Andrew in 2014, announced she was pregnant with her second child in November by sharing a snap of Aaliyah dressed as a superhero, with the words “Sidekick Coming Soon” written across it.

In the caption, she wrote: “Andrew and I are overjoyed that our family will be growing in 2018 with the addition of our second child – a baby brother for our little superhero Aaliyah!!!”
